MUA Procedure

Dr. Weston is Certified in Manipulation Under Anesthesia.  This is sometimes called Sedation Manipulation where a mild sedative is administered putting the patient into "conscious sedation".  Advanced training is required to perform this procedure.  This procedure is reserved for those patients who do not respond favorably to conscious manipulation, have reached a plateau in their progress or wish to acheive maximum improvement quickly and safely.

The procedure is designed to reduce the amount of fibrous scar tissue and adhesions that commonly buildup around joints that have been injured or compromised in a way that has altered the normal joint motion.  These can be from direct acute trauma or from repetitive movements over a longer period of time.

MUA is a valuable procedure for people with chronic spinal and extremity problems that have been caused by accidents, injuries or repetitive stresses that have not been satisfactorily responsive to conventional treatment.

MUA has been proven effective for NMS conditions including

  • Fibro adhesion buildup
  • Chronic disc problems
  • Herniated disc without fragmentation
  • Chronic myofasciitis
  • Retractable pain from neuromusculoskeletal conditions
  • Torticollis
  • Failed back surgery
  • Chiropractic patients who have reached a plateau
  • Physical therapy patients who require a progression in care
  • Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis of the hip

Performed in an outpatient surgery center, accompanied by an assistant physician, anesthesiologist and nurse staff this procedure has documented up to 80% improvement.  MUA has helped thousands get their lives back quickly and safely.
